Mitla Geometric

Inspired by the mosaics of Mitla

Mitla — 'place of the dead' in Nahuatl — was the religious center of the Zapotec civilization. The famous stone mosaics of the archaeological complex, with their strict geometric patterns, inspired this rug. The 'greca' motif, a recurring meander pattern, is translated here into textile in a powerful combination of indigo and natural wool.
